About Me
Hello, I'm Marvin Walder! I'm a photographer and filmmaker from the Central Oregon area, and I'm currently operating my own business to provide my services to a wide array of clients. Taking people's ideas and stories, and figuring out how to help capture them using light and lenses is my passion. I hope you've enjoyed browsing the work on my portfolio! From films and TV shows, to video games and YouTube videos. I've really enjoyed all of the amazing things other people have created, and so, I want to create those kinds of things for others too.
My Experience
My professional journey started in 2018 after winning a few local video competitions and buying my first real camera, and since graduating from Southern Oregon University in 2023, I've been running my own LLC providing photography and video services to the Southern Oregon area. I've worked with organizations such as Southern Oregon University, The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Oregon Center for the Arts, Whetstone Creative Agency, The Oregonian, Southern Oregon PBS, Harry & David, OMPA, CareOregon, Oregon Media, Talent Business Alliance, Rogue Valley Television, and the Oregon Fringe Festival. These services have ranged from real estate photography to live event coverage, video production, editing & postproduction and more. During this time I have also worked on multiple short films as a cinematographer, camera operator and editor, and I've covered multiple weddings as a photographer/videographer.
My Skills
I've spent countless hours working with industry software such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, Capture One, Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve, and Blender. In terms of equipment, I've trekked all over the Pacific Northwest and parts of Austria with equipment like my trusted Sony A7RIII, Sony E-mount lenses, Canon R5c, Rokinon DSX Cine lenses, and DJI Drones. I also have hands on experience assembling and operating Cinema Cameras such as the Canon cinema EOS and Blackmagic systems, along with supporting cine equipment such as remote monitoring and focus pulling solutions. I think that by constantly developing production skills with professional equipment and software, I will be well versed in the tools needed to succeed in the industry. I've also worked hard to find local opportunities to advance my business, and to learn from professionals in my own community. There's really no better way to get into something than to immerse yourself in that world and learn from the people who do what you want to do. My goal is to continue to pursue a career as a photographer and filmmaker, because there are many amazing technologies to use, and many wonderful stories to share.
My Education
In June of 2023, I received my Bachelor of Science in Digital Cinema and a Minor in Business from Southern Oregon University, graduating with Summa Cum Laude Honors. Before then, I had received an Associate's of Business in Science from Central Oregon Community College, and an Honor's Diploma and an award for excellence in Video Arts from Summit High School. Improvement is a continual process, so I want to continue to gain more skills and experience while working in the field now that I've completed my degree.
